By working together, we aim to build a solid foundation for our youngest residents, preparing them for future educational success. The Council is dedicated to creating a comprehensive strategy that truly benefits children and families within our community.


The Leadership Council will draw on local research and actively seek input from early learning experts, as well as the perspectives of families and caregivers. This collaborative approach guarantees that our initiatives are grounded in racial and social equity, reflecting the needs and experiences of our community. Over the past 2 years, the Snohomish County Early Learning Coalition conducted a thorough exploration to identify the most effective local strategies for enhancing our early learning system and addressing existing gaps. Over the past 2 years, the Snohomish County Early Learning Coalition conducted a thorough exploration to identify the most effective local strategies for enhancing our early learning system and addressing existing gaps. Representative Julio Cortes has been instrumental in this initiative, championing a budget proviso that enables us to launch the Leadership Council and establish a partnership with DCYF. This collaboration will empower us to make significant progress in strengthening early learning opportunities for all children in our community.

This council will bring together K-12 leaders, community leaders, childcare providers, elected officials, tribal partners, business leaders, law enforcement, government representatives, and families/caregivers to work towards a common goal.

The Early Learning Leadership Council will lead the development of a comprehensive local early learning report. This report will tackle specific challenges in our early learning system through a racial and social equity lens. It will provide actionable recommendations and outline clear pathways for funding these solutions.

The Leadership Council is set to launch in January 2025, with meetings scheduled up to twice a month. By June 2025, we will present a robust report and a strategic plan that will direct the future initiatives of the Leadership Council, ensuring significant and impactful progress for our community.
